Little Acorn

This is an old piece I did for a children’s book project while I was still in College. I saw it and thought it was worth the point. His name is Little Acorn. He’s an intrepid little guy.

Motions studies and striking while the iron is hot.

Here are some motion studies of a previous character I did.  She isn’t part of any story arc I’m working on. She’s a chick with a big sword and I literally just needed to get that out of my system.

I’ve recently had some discussions about getting your ideas on paper immediately and not letting them ferment too long before they lose their luster and energy. By that point it might even feel like you are working on someone else’s idea depending on how long you let it sit in your brain-bone for. Capturing that energy in the moment is half the effort in making your work feel alive and fresh on the page and not just to your audience.   It’s the worst kind of temperament to be bored with something you haven’t even created yet. Ideas, in a sense, can be total divas that way.

Pajamas

Here is just a little somethin’ I got going on the side. And by side I mean it’s taking up most of my time.

I’ve noticed I’m posting pretty frequently on Fridays and though that’s a pretty large improvement from the frequency of yore I’m hoping to get the post frequency up to a couple times a week. Keeps me in shape. Feel free to cheer me on.

Wanted.

Happy Friday Bitches! Just did a little study here from the movie Wanted that I watched again recently. The drawing has some serious bit O’ jank to it but i was trying to focus on just color and light and trying to get it done quick.

Been playing egg Tempra lately. More to come on that…

Pray that the weather is nice this weekend.

CrabTAUR.

Finished God of War 3 finally. I guess I kind of have it one the brain. I always really loved how they went balls out with Greek mythos.

Jennifer’s (awesome) Body

Just some sketches and studies today. I saw Jennifer’s Body recently and  it kind of surprised me how fun it was to watch. Granted it was marketed in really obvious ways but behind all that garbage there is a pretty decent movie there. I liked the idea of a demon with self esteem issues. A little bit of American Psycho and a little bit of Mean Girls. A winning combo.

I recently tried work without listening to music of any sort. I felt that perhaps it was distracting me a little and allowed me to get into a zone where I wasn’t really paying attention to what I was doing. I did a couple days of it and now I can’t listen to music at all. Give it a try, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Dickie

Got away for the weekend but got a chance to do some sketching. Had a friend infuse some cultural relevance to to it. At least people were entertained.
